Mammography, sonogram, MRIs and tons of other very long words make the world of breast cancer screenings pretty tough for someone with no medical background to understand. Faith Goldman for the latest, most accurate information in the name of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Can you brief us on the latest and greatest technology out there that Englewood Hospital and Medical Center has available? The most up-to-date technology that we have here is the Tomosynthesis mammography for a significant portion of our screening and diagnostic mammography.
Englewood's Aurora System, the only Food and Drug Administration FDA cleared dedicated breast MRI system, is located in the hospital with easy access from the Leslie Simon Breast Care and Cytodiagnosis Center, which was awarded a federal grant as a national model for the diagnosis and management of breast cancer. In keeping with its mission, Englewood Hospital selected the Aurora System due to its specific design for 3-D bilateral breast imaging, offering Englewood patients more accurate detection and diagnosis for the treatment of breast cancer. The exclusive design of this system tailors the examination to each woman's specific breast composition.

In fact, more than two million women are breast cancer survivors. There are several ways to treat breast cancer, but all treatments work best when the disease is found early.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is the perfect time to ramp up early detection efforts and get screened. The newly renovated center offers a serene environment, the latest technology and a dedicated, compassionate team working to get patients the care they need, when they need it. Yet when it comes to a consensus on preventive screenings, the jury is still out.
